Blogging in the Time of Quarantine
What better time to start a website than when you are ordered to "self-isolate" by the authorities.
As a new virus has spread across the planet, we have been to told to stay inside unless absolutely necessary. I am now working from home full-time and all my travel plans are canceled. It's a mentally tough situation, but I am ever thankful to have a solid job and a roof over my head. I am using this time to improve my photography and editing. I decided to start a simple site as a hub to exhibit what I have so far. I also envision this as a place I can share stories about my travels and my journey as a a photographer and creator.
Knowing What You Have.. Before It's Gone
A huge thing that many of us miss during these two months of isolation is sports. I never thought I would see a world without sports. Right now we scrape by on documentaries and rebroadcasts of classic games. Professional athletes are training in garages and living rooms across the country.
No matter what kind of hard times we were going through, Americans could always gather together to celebrate a shared love for 'our team'. I remember how healing it felt to watch sports after 9/11, with such tremendous pride. More than any other type of 'normal activity', I look forward to seeing a live basketball, hockey, or baseball game again.
Bringing my camera to a ball game made me feel part of the action. I was capturing images that no one else was seeing. I think the men and women on the sidelines armed with cameras and all-access media passes are the celebrities of the photography world. They inspire me to be better.
